35 years ago today, the debut album from one of the most successful—and most powerful—singers of all time was released: Whitney Houston, a stunning 11-song achievement that launched hit singles “How Will I Know,” “Saving All My Love for You,” and “You Give Good Love.” The album would make a slow climb to number one; a full year after its release, it topped Billboard’s album charts for 14 weeks, then the second most for any album by a woman. It launched Whitney to superstardom and won her her first Grammy. Which is to say that the album is a classic, and wall-to-wall heat.
To celebrate that album’s 35th anniversary, on this, its literal 35th anniversary, Vinyl Me, Please is hyped to announce a deluxe edition of the album. Coming on 180g 2LP peaches and cream colored vinyl, this edition of Whitney Houston comes packaged in a boxset that includes:
- Whitney Dancin’ Special, a previously Japan-only EP that remixes some of the songs on Whitney Houston into dancefloor smashes
- A color hardcover booklet featuring new liner notes about the album, color photos from behind the scenes of the making of the album, and other ephemera
You can buy the album in our store, right now. Call it a Valentine’s Day gift if you want, but we know you’re getting this to dance around your house by yourself.
