Our Favorite Vinyl Releases of the Week (7/27/15)

On July 29th 2015

The following is a brief list of our favorite vinyl releases from this week. To ignore these records is to ignore the future of your collection:

Action Bronson - Mr. Wonderful

||Purchase LP Here||

Is this the best rap album to come out this year?  Nope.  Is it the worst?  Far from it.  As our friend the Storfer explained in his June edition of Storf Sounds Off, "Till A$AP’s album came out, this was the number one 'rappers are trying to be ‘60s rockers now!' album, as Bronsolino sings and croons and 'plays guitar' all over this. He’s gross, but he’s the funniest MC in the game when he wants to be."  AND....does it have "Baby Blue" feat. Chance the Rapper one of the best songs to come out this year? Yes, yes it does. Is that one track good enough to own this album on vinyl...probably.

Air - Moon Safari

Do you know about an amazing website called Album of the Year?  Our friend Rob Thomas (not that Rob Thomas) runs one of the cleanest, tightest, most informationally-rich album review websites on the planet and we use it often to geek out on album details and laugh when major review websites miss big and nod like a stern father when they don't.  Check out the the reviews for Moon Safari and listen below then buy this vinyl reissue and don't think twice.

Beth Orton - Comfort of Strangers

The first time this author (if you can call one who writes pithy vinyl release paragraphs such a thing) heard of Beth Orton was when he was reading a Cameron Crowe interview and Crowe mentioned Orton as one of his favorite living musicians.  If someone like Cameron Crowe says that you'd be wise to pay attention...he knows something about music.  Released originally in 2006 and now being reissued (this is the new game major labels are playing after discovering last year that vinyl is popular with the youths again), Comfort of Strangers is the English singer-songwriter's fourth studio album and was a return to form type album that gives a good taste test for whether or not you'd like her material overall.
